The US Archivist, David Ferriero has named Sheryl Jasielum Shenberger as the first director of the National Archives National Declassification Center--effective June 7, 2010. The National Declassification Center was created by President Obama executive order December 2009. Its mission is to advance the declassification and public release of historically valuable permanent records while maintaining security.
