Updated IAJGS Legislative Alert Posted to IAJGS Website

The IAJGS statement in response to the May 8th (USA)  House of Representatives Ways and Means Joint Subcommittees on Oversight and Social Security hearing on Identity  Theft and Tax Fraud is linked. Again, the genealogical community was not invited to testify. This statement was submitted following the hearing within the time frame allotted for public statements to be submitted.

The Latest Alert also has updates on several states records access legislation that were reported on previously: Maine,  New Jersey, New York City , Pennsylvania, Virginia, and Washington State.

If you learn of any legislation or regulations worldwide that would reduce access to vital records or census, please let us know.
