There has been an increasing interest in genetic genealogy over the past several years and a group of genealogists, genetic genealogists and scientists have developed a draft of genetic genealogy standards. The proposed standards address ethics and usage standards for the genealogical community.
The Genetic Genealogy Standards Community has opened their proposed document for public comment May 12- June 15, 2014. By going to
And clicking on the “comment” tab you can review the document The document will download to your computer—its only three pages. If you are so inclined click on the comment tab to leave comments . When you click on the link you will also see the list of people who developed the standards. Where social media and other outlets are discussing the proposed standards, only those comments submitted through the “official” website (link above) will be considered.
